Oil Painting Tips, Techniques and Hacks – with Wes Flanary

No matter if you’re transitioning from another medium or an experienced oil painter, I want to share my process with you. I’ve spent years working to simplify oil painting techniques to make it safe, easy and affordable to create beautiful works of art. I will not only go over how I paint but also the supplies and tools that work for this method and why. As we paint from a limited palette, I will explain some of the chemistry of how oil paints react and work with different mediums, mixing colors to create depth, go over safe and easy clean-up and care for your tools.
My goal is not necessarily to teach you my style of art but to empower you to find you own style or just be more efficient at what you do. I’ve done all the hard work and research, now I want to share what I’ve learned with you.
This is a three-hour workshop, but the room will be open longer for those who want to continue working. It will not some boring demonstration where you just watch someone talk or paint – we are going to all get our hands dirty together! Because of this, there will be a limited number of seats so I can spend a little one-on-one time with everyone.
Each participant will get everything they need to create a painting. I will supply a set of paints, brushes and a canvas that are yours keep so you can continue painting on your own. This hands-on workshop will be helpful to all levels of artists, so please join me for a fun afternoon of painting and learning.
